Allen Ginsberg, Planet News (excerpt from: Television was a Baby Crawling Toward that Death Chamber)
I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, 09/30/1981, and started painting at the age of fourteen. It was an entirely new feeling. All of a sudden I could get revenge on the supermarkets, television, and the artificial world of commercials that surrounds us.
The cultural anarchy of alternative galleries and independent magazines and labels in the U.S. inspired me. The DIY (Do It Yourself) movement allows artistic independence and contact between like-minded people who do not want to contribute to commercial culture.
As the globalization of the world by International Corporations increases, DIY can become an effective way to fight against getting brainwashed by the Big Brothers of today.
